I am generally not favourably inclined towards single-case protests against progress and large construction projects. I do make an exception, however, when it comes to what I think may be threats to important landmarks and cultural heritage. I consider the vineyards along the Mosel river to be just such landmarks that we should not threaten, and so I heartily support the protests against the proposed bridge over the Mosel near Ürzig, which would threaten some of the very best vineyards in the world. I am therefore happy to read these news today: http://www.decanter.com/news/wine-news/584677/mosel-bridge-bombshell-heartens-protesters?utm_source=Cheetahmail&utm_medium=email&utm_content=news+alert+link+080114&utm_campaign=Newsletter-080114
You may want to join the people who protest against this development. There is a page on Facebook where you can start: https://www.facebook.com/hochmoselubergang.stoppen?ref=ts. There is also a web site (the link is in German, but there is English available, too): http://www.b50neu.de/.
